Single Wire Seal vs Cavity Plug (Dummy Plug) vs Mat Seal
Single wire seals (SWS) — also called cavity seals or terminal seals — fit inside connector housings to seal around individual wires using a three-lip configuration that creates multiple redundant sealing interfaces. Cavity plugs (dummy plugs or blind plugs) are solid moulded plugs that seal unused cavities where no wire terminal is present, preventing contaminant ingress through empty positions. Mat seals (family seals or interfacial seals) are multi-cavity sealing components that seal all wires simultaneously at the connector mating interface.
